The Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office (LTIO) / Embassy of Luxembourg in Abu Dhabi is hiring a Commercial and Economic Advisor to join our team. The main purpose of the LTIO is to develop trade and investment relations between Luxembourg and the countries of the Gulf region.
The Commercial & Economic Advisor will proactively support the promotion and prospection initiatives of the Luxembourg Trade and Investment office (which is embedded in the Luxembourg Embassy in Abu Dhabi) under the immediate responsibility of the Executive Director. He/she
will be responsible to identify and develop economic and business relations in various sectors in line with the Luxembourg economic diversification strategy and successfully contribute to the development of business activities in the UAE and the Gulf region. He/she will directly report to the Executive Director of the LTIO.
Proactively supporting and providing services to Luxembourg businesses and institutions;
Conducting market research on specific topics and identifying business opportunities in different sectors or for individual Luxembourg companies and organisations; ·
Building and maintaining a relevant network of public and private stakeholders in the UAE and in Luxembourg;
Preparing and supporting finance, trade and economic missions between Luxembourg and the UAE and also between Luxembourg and other GCC Countries;
Planning and organizing seminars, networking events, trade fairs and business-to-business meetings;
Supporting the Director in drafting periodical economic and sectorial reports;
Supporting the Director in drafting speeches, talking points and/or other ad hoc communication material;
Reporting on relevant economic and trade-related policies, commercial developments and sectorial opportunities in the UAE to the Director;
Keeping up to date relevant databases;
Contributing actively to other day-to-day activities and administrative tasks;
Contributing to the presence of the LTIO on social media.
Qualifications and experience:
An academic degree, preferably in a discipline that is relevant for the position;
Professional knowledge of trade promotion and economic affairs. Knowledge of political, social and economic structures in the UAE and other GCC countries and/ or experience working in the MENA-region, preferably in the UAE and the Gulf, would be an asset;
Demonstrated experience in (international) trade and business development. Experience in project management would be an asset;
Fluent in English, both oral and written. Fluency in French and Arabic language, as well as knowledge of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, are a plus.
