Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) is the largest sustainability gathering in the Middle East, held annually each January. The event is dedicated to furthering our understanding of the major social, economic and environmental trends shaping the world’s sustainable development, and to empowering the global community to realize viable and effective strategies to mitigate climate change and address the energy and sustainability challenges of the future.
The Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the BeNeLux Business Council kicked off the ADSW with a very interesting breakfast session with 2 guest speakers:
Gus Schellekens, Partner (Climate Change and Sustainability Services) of Ernst & Young, and BeNeLux Business Council Board and Xavier Joseph, Head of Concessions & Assets at BESIX. Gus Schellekens talked about how to comprehend and deal with the interactions and relationships between water, energy and food in the region as well as the challenges and opportunities that lay ahead of us in the years to come. Xavier Joseph talked about Besix’s joint venture project in Dubai to build the world’s largest energy-from-waste plant.
The BeNeLux Business Council would like to express their gratitude towards the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands for their support and making this event possible. Moreover, we would like to thank H.E. Frank Mollen, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands an H.E. Peter Claes, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium for their participation in this event.
