The first speed-networking event
On Wednesday May 20th, the Benelux Business Council organised a speed-networking event and it was a huge success. Co-hosted by the Spanish Business Council and the French Business Group and organised at the Park Rotana, the event was the first one of many to come and was attended by more than 50 people. Speed-networking is a meeting format designed to accelerate business contacts, generally with a bell. Primarily, the practice involves multiple people that gather in a single space in order to share information. Participants greet each other in a series of brief exchanges during a set period of time. Networkers are generally seeking exposure to new markets and/or to expand their pool of vendors and because networking is an integral part of doing business in the UAE this event was a great way of making those needed new contacts within a short space of time.
After the networking there was opportunity to delve deeper into conversation in the lobby where drinks and snacks were served. At the end of the evening there was a raffle of an airplane ticket, generously donated by Etihad Airways, which was won by Sila Filfli. The picture shows Vania Henry, the newly elected Chairman of the Board of the Benelux Business Council, handing over the prize to Sila.
Because the feedback was extremely positive, the Benelux Business Council is looking at organising at least three of these events (and of course many other events) every year and we will invite other business councils to join us.
